I have a question regarding redundancy pay requirements.
We will make a position redundant due to a restructure, closing down all operations in Victoria. The affected employee will be offered redeployment into another role in Brisbane. The new role will maintain the same base salary, however, have less responsibility (lesser role). Should the employee accept the redeployment offer and relocate to Brisbane, do we still need to pay redundancy to the redeployed employee? The employee is award and enterprise agreement -free.

If the employee agrees to continue his/her employment in the new role then, regardless of whether it is suitable, there is no termination of employment – therefore no redundancy pay is payable.
