50% of the employee’s duties & responsibilities are being transferred to another position. The other 50% of the role becomes 100% of the role and we are not terminating their employment or reducing salary – we are offering them an alternative role. Is this still classed as a redundancy
This is likely to result in the original role becoming redundant. However if the employee accepts the redeployment to the new role then there will not be a retrenchment i.e. a termination of employment on grounds of redundancy.
