When an employee takes unpaid leave, they don’t accrue AL or PL. Can you please confirm two things:
1. Do they continue to accrue LSL
2. Are they paid Public Holidays that fall during their period of unpaid leave.

Firstly, long service leave is governed by each individual state and territory legislation. Without knowing where your employee is based we cannot confirm if your employee will continue to accrue long service leave whilst they are on unpaid leave. By way of example, in Victoria, unpaid leave of up to 52 weeks will count towards the period of employment for long service leave purposes.
Secondly, if an employee is on unpaid leave, they are not paid for any public holiday that falls during that period of unpaid leave.
