The Case

Lees v Intrepid Travel Pty Ltd (2023)

On 18 December 2012, Mr Lees commenced employment with Intrepid Travel Pty Ltd. On 1 December 2016, Mr Lees was promoted to the position of Global General Manager – Peak Destination Management (GGM) on a remuneration package of $165,967.26.

On 24 February 2020, Mr Lees accepted a promotion to the position of Managing Director – North America. Mr Lees was meant to relocate and commence in the role on 1 May 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was unable to relocate and continued to perform his GGM role. On 22 June 2020, Mr Lees advised he would no longer be willing to accept the Managing Director position due to the pandemic and for personal reasons.
