Workplace complaints lead to unlawful dismissal

The Case

Kantor v WISR Finance Pty Ltd (2022)

WISR Finance Pty Ltd (WISR) employed Ms Kantor who, during her employment, made several workplace complaints, including about:

  • a WISR employee giving Ms Kantor’s personal mobile number to a third party without her consent;
  • WISR not listening to her, her messages not being returned, her not feeling supported and the inefficient handling of her complaints;
  • Ms Kantor’s work efforts not being recognised;
  • the Chief Operating Officer (COO) saying he wanted to punch Ms Kantor in the face;
  • Ms Kantor’s onboarding;
  • operational and structural issues within WISR;
  • communications between Ms Kantor and other WISR management and staff;
  • Ms Kantor’s performance targets; and
  • staffing issues.
