If an organisation implements a Paid Parental Leave Policy of 12 weeks’ paid parental leave (PPL) for all eligible employees, can the employees also separately claim the Government’s 18 weeks’ PPL afterwards or concurrently?
Where a paid parental leave policy provides an entitlement for employer-funded PPL, this does not affect an employee’s eligibility under the Government’s PPL scheme. Employer-funded PPL does not override or eliminate an eligible employee’s entitlements under the Government’s PPL scheme, and so, it is possible for employees to claim PPL under both arrangements.
