Does an employee accrue annual leave when taking long service leave?
Q: Our staff member wants to retire at end of October 2018, but instead of getting paid out leave entitlements on the last day of his service, he requested to take 4 months of his accrued LSL so that he can be paid superannuation until the end of February 2019.
During the 4 months of being on LSL, does additional annual leave still accrue when his last working day was at end of October 2018?
A: Yes, an employee on long service leave still accrues annual leave and personal leave. Superannuation contributions are also required to be made in addition to this.
